Psywar

There’s not much to be said about Metanoia’s “Psywar” except that it bears watching. A history of the public relations industry, this outstanding documentary explores the highly deleterious impact of organized and well-funded propaganda efforts on a would-be democratic society. Author Peter Dale Scott here delivers a speech before the Coalition on Political Assassinations comparing suspicious elements in the JFK assassination and 9/11 attacks. Both Lee Harvey Oswald and most of the alleged 9/11 hijackers, for instance, were identified by the FBI under questionable circumstances within minutes of the crimes being committed. Scott’s long research into what he’s termed “Deep Politics” comes into handy use in describing the nightmare world unleashed by these traumatic events. Close the Loophole Gun Campaign Misrepresents Columbine Shootings

Transcript:

Hello, my name is Evan Long and I’m the creator of a presentation called “The Columbine Cause: An Examination of the April 20, 1999 Attack on Columbine High School.”

This April, on the eleventh anniversary of the Columbine High School shootings, a political group called Mayors Against Illegal Guns ran ads promoting gun control laws on the basis that the Columbine massacre would have been prevented had the laws that they are advocating been in place. Here is a clip from their ad:

[ad plays: "1999. The Columbine school massacre. The killers got their guns because of a gap in the law called the gun show loophole."]

However, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold officially used four guns in the shooting. The first was a TEC-9 pistol which had officially been sold to them by a co-worker and therefore, that gun did not come from a gun show. The other three guns, two shotguns and a rifle, had officially been bought at a gun show but had been bought by a school friend of Harris and Klebold who was over 18 at the time and who could have passed any background check.

Besides these points, Eric Harris was born on April 9, 1981, making him 18 over a week before the shooting. Since Harris was not an illegal immigrant, a dishonorably discharged military veteran, had not been convicted of domestic assault or felony charges, was not under indictment for felony charges, and did not have outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants against him, he most likely would have also passed a background check. Of course, this is to say nothing of the myriad pipe bombs and other lethal explosives which were also used in the attack.

Whether or not you support gun control in any form, it’s not right to misrepresent crimes for political ends. In making this campaign and running these ads, the Mayors Against Illegal Guns have shown us that they have either done no research on the Columbine attack, they are mentally incompetent, or that they don’t really care about the facts behind Columbine and they are trying to manipulate and trick us into supporting their campaign by lying to us. Does this group deserve anyone’s trust and support?
