Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign Promise to End the War in Iraq

On October 27, 2007, then-U. S. Presidential hopeful Barack Hussein Obama promised American voters that, if elected, he would end the war in Iraq. Today, Obama has been President for a year and a half, the war in Iraq has continued, the war in Afghanistan has been escalated severalfold and the chatter about invading Iran over its supposed nuclear bomb program is at its peak.

Transcript of Obama’s promise: “I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am President, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home; we will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank.”
